Who's it?

People have fought over many trivial things in the past few years. To name a few:
Messi or Ronaldo? Mars or Snickers? Adidas or Nike? Xbox ONE or PS4?
But none have riled up the masses like this one: Apple or Samsung? (Not iOS vs Android, mind you. That’s coming later. #Teaser)
The two biggest smartphone brands in the world right now.
And someone just read that and said “Apple is definitely bigger than Samsung” and vice versa. And that’s what I’m here to address.
Let’s do a little recap. iPhone 3GS. One of the best smartphones to ever be made. It redefined the how the touchscreen was supposed to be used. It was all the rage. People flipped and Apple became the thing.
Fast forward to the iPhone5S. And its fancy fingerprint sensor. People flipped again. Apple became more of a thing. Apple. Was. Ruling.
Meanwhile, there was Samsung. Rolling out phones like the S II. Which was awesome because while it didn’t offer all the things that the iPhone did at that point of time like a metal build and solid UI, it still got the job done in terms of a cheaper price range and a host of features that the iPhone didn’t have at that point like wireless file sharing, all round customization and total freedom with the storage.
Their major breakthrough in the category of smartphones was, in my opinion, with the S4. It was a phone which, although lacking in design, had good processing, good camera, decent display and cheaper price range which made it something that people were quite drawn to. And that’s where the war started.
Samsung copied Apple’s design!!
Apple still doesn’t have wireless sharing lol.
Retina displays are so much better than your measly FHD displays.
You and your pathetic 8MP cameras.
You don’t even have apps we have with iOS.
Do you even custom launcher bro?
And on and on it went and still goes.
But the only thing that no one could deny was that Apple was rolling out one beautiful phone after the other and Samsung was still stuck with its faux leather/plastic builds. Until the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 series were launched.
Samsung pulled a game changer card and Apple fanatics were stumped for a bit. A beautiful metal and Gorilla glass body paired with an amazing camera (front AND back) alongside superb processing power made the phone an elegant beast with just one flaw: The phone looked VERY VERY VERY similar to an iPhone 5S. From the speaker to the antenna strips. It was a very obvious “inspiration”.
But then people got around that disappointing fact and realized that the iPhone 6 just didn’t compare to it. In any way whatsoever. The processing speed was slower, the camera wasn’t as good. Except for Snapchat of course. Those cheeky fuckers still favour iOS development compared to the Android counterpart.
Apple users were getting frustrated with Apple. Where is the new revolutionary upgrade? Apple was failing to deliver a convincing answer to that. They rolled out the iPhone 6S. Which was just as beautiful and big and very powerful. It brought about the Force Touch, subtly drawing to themselves the whole Star Wars fandom. Yes Apple, we saw through that. But nothing out of the blue was introduced. They just fine tuned and refined the existing iPhone 6.
Meanwhile, Samsung was riling up the smartphone world with the Samsung S7 and S7 edge. An upgraded version of the S6 series. Better build, amazing display, faster camera and insane processing power. Oh and also water resistivity. Now while all of these were already available in multiple different phones (LG, HTC and Sony, I haven’t forgotten you guys), Samsung brought together all of these individual components and encased it into one amazing gadget.
And now, they pulled the Note 7. Which, let’s be honest, is the best smartphone out there.
So, you’re probably thinking, this dude is clearly a Samsung guy. But the thing is, I am not.
What people fail to understand is that, it doesn’t even matter anymore. “Apple or Samsung?” is a question that just cannot be answered in a blip. In fact, I don’t believe that the question is even logical at this point. The iPhone 6 provides you with that elegant feel of having an Apple product while also fulfilling all your needs be it photography or gaming. The Samsung S7 (Not taking the Note 7 into account until Apple releases its next iPhone) gives you the feeling of holding a powerhouse in your hands which blazes through everything you throw at it. The iPhone lacks in a few places where the Galaxy aces and same goes in reverse. There is no definite answer at this point because, simply, they both get the job done for their respective users.
And in the end, isn’t that what’s really expected of a device you invest your life savings and then some more into?
So, dear warmongers, stop the futile war. Apple isn’t better than Samsung. And neither is Samsung. For now, obviously.
Once again, not taking the Note7 into consideration here because I’m waiting for Apple’s new release, which has already disappointed a majority of the world since it is rumoured that they removed one of the most important part of a phone: The headphone jack. But that might make the phone slimmer, which in my opinion clearly doesn’t justify it.
But hey, as I said, it’s always going to come down to the user and what they want.
And with that note, I’d just like to say this: If you like what you read, share this and leave your comments down below. If you don’t like it, share it nevertheless with a caption like “Read this worthless post” or something.
Oh and also one last thing, in case you still haven’t figured it out, the answer is Samsung.
Just kidding! Until the next post, see you! Raheel Haque, 30th August, 2016 03:28.
